Ms. McDonnell  

Mrs. Morley has returned from her maternity leave.  She is very excited  to be  teaching our new and returning students.  I will now be teaching the Dina Dinasaur program to all three kindergarten classes and  math to the other two kindergarten classes.  I look forward to continuing the school year at Sunnybrae in my new role as planning time teacher.

Thank you to our parent volunteers.  Your help was very much appreciated today.  It was a very busy morning.  Fortunately, the rain held off and we began our day with a walk around the area.  Then we had “coffee” (as I heard some of the students call it), which was really hot chocolate, and cookies.  The students really enjoyed driving over  the big bumps and puddles, playing “I Spy”, and singing while we were having an extra long train ride to the maze.  The maze proved challenging for some but we had fun and made it out in time to pick out our pumpkins.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mrs. P to our kindergarten class.  She will be taking over for Mrs. DeLuca in the DECE position while Mrs. DeLuca is on maternity leave.  She has several years of early childhood education experience as well as experience as an educational assistant.  She is very excited and looking forward to the year ahead.

Our Home reading program begins the first week of October.  Look for information concerning this program in your child’s reading folder.  We will exchange our books each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Please be sure to help your child return his/her book on these days so that there is a wide selection of books to choose from for the class.  Reading the same book a couple of times helps your child build confidence, comprehension, and fluency.  Be sure to ask your child questions after reading the book.

Congratulations to Mrs. DeLuca and her husband on the birth of their first child, Christian DeLuca.  We wish her and her family all the best.
